Serve With Joy

Our primary way of living out Jesus’ call to serve others is through feeding people. There are plenty of other ways we live out Jesus’ call on our lives, but we work really hard to feed people and have some fun along the way.

SouthPointe Christian Church is a Foodnet distribution site, every Wednesday at 5:30-6:30pm.

Anyone age 18 or older may receive food at Foodnet. There are no income requirements for Foodnet. You will need to provide a name and the number of people in your household, but do not need to provide ID of any kind. At this site, we use a lottery system. Everyone is given a number; when your number is called, you go and shop the food that is available. You are welcome to stay for seconds at 6:20. Please contact the church office with any questions you may have. You can find more information about Foodnet, including other distribution sites, at foodnetlincoln.org

We love volunteers! Picking up and sorting all of the donations takes many people. We need help sorting food on Wednesday mornings, 9:30-11:30. We also need help sorting and distributing food on Wednesday evenings, 4:30-7. Pick-up help is needed Monday morning, Tuesday evening, and Wednesday morning. Kids are welcome and we’re glad to sign off on community service hours. If you’d like to volunteer, please contact the church office at office@southpointecc.org or 402-420-2750.

We have leftovers! If you or anyone you know is interested in compost items please contact the church office at 402-420-2750 or by email at office@southpointecc.org

SouthPointe at Matt Talbot

Each year SouthPointe Christian Church, along with other Disciples congregations from Lincoln, participate in the CROP Hunger Walk.

2024 Walk

When: October 13th, 2024
Where: TBD

This is typically a 1.5 mile walk, which can be walked twice if so desired. Registration typically starts at 1:00 pm, with a send off to the walk at 1:25 pm and the walk itself starts approximately at 1:30 pm.

CROP Hunger Walks are community-based walk fundraising events held in cities and towns across the United States, created to support the global mission of Church World Service, a faith-based organization transforming communities around the globe through just and sustainable responses to hunger, poverty, displacement and disaster. After a CROP Hunger Walk ends, 25% of the funds raised is returned to the host community to support local hunger fighting efforts.

If you would like to donate to end world hunger or are interesting in walking with us, please contact the church office at 402-420-2750 or by email at office@southpointecc.org.

Refugee Resettlement

SouthPointe Christian Church is proud to be partner with refugee resettlement in Lincoln.

In partnership with other Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) congregations in Lincoln, and under the guidance of Lutheran Family Services, SouthPointe Christian Church helped welcome a family seeking refuge in our country. We continue to walk with this family as they find new life here.

Knowing that families experiencing resettlement are particularly vulnerable, we also help provide basic items to several families. Often these needs change frequently.

If you would like to help, contact our office at office@southpointecc.org or 402-420-2750 to find out current needs.
