About

There are three stories we tell a lot around here because they reflect how we strive to follow Jesus:

  • Jesus calming the storm (Matthew 8:23-27; Mark 4:35-41; Luke 8:22-25)
  • Jesus feeding 5000 people (Matthew 14:13-21; Mark 6:31-44; Luke 9:12-17; John 6:1-14)
  • The parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-29)

If you check out those stories, it makes sense that we’re a congregation that strives to be a refuge for people and we feed people, both the body and the soul. Because of those commitments, we do things like:

  • Welcome LGBTQIQA+ folx to the full life and leadership of the church
  • Host Foodnet each week, where any adult can come and get food, regardless of income
  • Gather for fellowship in places like  Voyagers and First Saturday Fellowship
  • Study together in gatherings like youth group and Faith by the Pint

Maybe that’s all you need to know to check us out. Here are some of the more church specific things you might be interested in, too!

We’re part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). While each congregation is self-governing, some of the hallmarks of this tradition are:

  • We do not use creeds as part of our worship or a test of fellowship. We believe deeply, but each person is charged with their own discernment and study.
  • We share communion each week and our table is open to anyone, as it is Christ’s table, not ours. It is common for members of the congregation to preside at communion rather than the pastor.
  • We practice baptism by immersion and baptize older kids or adults. We accept all forms of baptism as valid and do not typically re-baptize people. The confession of faith we share at baptism is, “I believe that Jesus is the Christ, the son of the living God.”
